Fraser Venture Barge

How To Get There

The Fraser Venture departs River Heads (20 minutes south of Hervey Bay) daily, landing at Wanggoolba Creek on the western side of Fraser Island. Crossing time taking approximately 30 minutes. Wanggoolba Creek is the entry point on to Fraser Island and is directly opposite Eurong Beach Resort on the east coast of Fraser Island. It takes approximately 45 minutes (depending on the sand tracks) to access either Kingfisher Bay Resort or Eurong Beach Resort and the eastern beach attractions. Please note: this is strictly four-wheel-driving territory and it's always advisable to check the QPWS Fraser Island condition report prior to commencing your journey.

Ferries can be busy during peak season, so check our home page or Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest information.

From Hervey Bay
From Boat Harbour Drive turn onto Elizabeth Street at the roundabout near the Urangan Woolworths and follow this road past airport.  You will need to take the well-signed left hand turn onto River Heads Road and follow the road all the way to the end.

From Maryborough
Follow the Maryborough-Hervey Bay road and, at the large roundabout, take the  Boral Road exit and continue along until you see signage for River Heads Road on your RHS.  This road (which sometimes appears as Ariadne in GPS navigation systems) will take you all the way through to barge departure point.

If you don't wish to use online navigation, you can opt to print directions and choose the best route for your trip with River Heads Google Maps. Tide times can be downloaded from the Bureau of Meteorology website (Use Urangan for the western side tide times and Waddy Point for the eastern beach).
